Granada in pictures

Granada lies perched on the edge of majestic Lake Nicaragua, the second largest fresh-water lake in the Americas, and still home to fresh water sharks.  Founded in 1524 it is the oldest city in the whole of Central America, and as the only Nicaraguan city not to rise up against Somoza, it's spectacular buildings are remarkably well preserved. The Central Plaza is at the heart of the city and is a perfect spot to sit and watch life go by.  The brightly coloured Cathedral built in 1900 and the old City Hall that line the plaza create the perfect setting.
